Call for expressions of interest

Summer School expressions of interest are now open for teachers to indicate which subjects and levels they are willing to be involved in.

Teachers can submit the form below to register their interest. Please use the drop down boxes to select subjects, NCEA levels, availability and whether you would like to teach and/or moderate.

Any final decisions on teaching or moderating standards will be subject to Kaiako Matua and/or Regional Leader of Learning approval.

This EOI opportunity will be open for a couple of weeks in the first instance.

Guidelines for Summer School Kaiako

Prior to submitting an Expression of Interest, please read the following guidelines to clarify shared understandings between the Summer School Manager and Summer School Kaiako

  • Every effort will be made to respond to communication within 24 hours (weekdays)
  • Te Kura is closed for the Christmas statutory holidays and the three days between Christmas and New Year. You are not expected to communicate with ākonga over this time.
  • Three days to provide feedback for formative assessment tasks.
  • Five days to provide feedback for summative assessment tasks. Send message to ākonga to let them know their work is being assessed and moderated.
  • Summer School is online from the week prior to Christmas until mid-February (dates change year by year). Unless your Expression of Interest shows a later start date, Summer School kaiako are expected to be available throughout this timeframe. Kaiako are to continue supporting their Summer School ākonga until their marking is complete. Passing work on to other Summer School kaiako adds stress at this very busy time. Where possible, external kaiako will be employed who can continue beyond the start date of school date so their ākonga are not passed on. Other support for internal kaiako during the cross-over time includes:
    • Option to apply for additional payment for weekend work based on workload commitments. Application emailed to SSManger.
    • Shared understandings with RM, TL, RLL that SS kaiako are allowed to work on their SS assessments during PD and will not be required to attend PD.
    • RMs have agreed that SS kaiako will not be allocated new ākonga in their rōpu manaaki during SS marking time.
  • If, during Summer School, your roll starts to exceed your expectations or prior agreement, contact the Summer School Lead urgently. Changes to ākonga need to be made as soon after their enrolment as possible and kept to a minimum.
  • Systems issues are to be sent to SSIssues@tekura.school.nz
